Q. What is the screening process you undertake on your nannies and babysitters?

A. All of our nannies and babysitters are employed by Evelyn Johnson Babysitting.

 

Each candidate has been interviewed and goes through the process of our background checks.

All sitters and caregivers hold a National Police Check and a valid Working With Children Check (WWC). They hold a current First Aid Certificate with CPR training that covers choking hazards.

All carers have relevant child related experience and/or childcare qualifications. We conduct a minimum of two child-related reference checks.

 

We pride ourselves in providing our families with skilled and trustworthy care givers. Our sitters are interested in early childhood and child development.

Q. Does it cost anything to register a babysitting request on the website?

A. No, there are no fees when submitting a request for a quote or checking availability on our site.

We offer competitive rates where children are cared for by an experienced baby-sitter. They have a passion for early childhood development and child care experience.

 

We offer both casual babysitting and part time roles to suit every family's child care needs. There are no hidden fees - The price we quote is the price you get!

Q. I've submitted a request for a quote, how long does the booking process take?

A. Each babysitting request is unique according to your location and our availability. Once you have submitted your request, one of our trustworthy babysitters in Newcastle will review your request, check our sitters calendars and provide a quote via email. Unfortunately our fees are non negotiable.

Q. Can I meet the babysitter beforehand?

A. If you request this as part of your booking, please let us know when submitting your quote request, so we can make arrangements. Alternatively, you can request that the sitter arrive half an hour earlier than required to allow for introductions.

 

Q. What are our obligations and responsibilities as a parent engaging a babysitter?

A. As a family that have engaged one of our care givers, you are required to provide a safe environment for them to work in. Our staff are not able to care for more than the number of children discussed in the original scope of works. This enables us to keep to the childcare ratio for safety reasons.

 

Q. What additional housekeeping duties do you provide?

A. Our babysitters are not housekeepers. They are expected to keep all children’s rooms and living areas clean and tidy during each session. For long term arrangements they may help with children’s laundry, changing bed linens, and help with preparation of children meals.

 

Q. Do you offer overnight babysitting/nannying? 

A. Yes, some of our babysitters/nannies can do overnight stays. We will require detailed instructions on what is required during this service. You can learn more about overnight babysitting here. We do offer live out nannies however live in nannies are not something our service offers.

 

Q. How many children can one babysitter care for during a booking?

A. For safety reasons we recommend a 1:4 babysitter: child ratio. This will depend on the needs and ages of the children, experience of the sitter and if a parent is onsite.

 

Q. How do I pay the babysitter?

A. ​​Credit Card details submitted during the booking process are kept for security and payment. The total amount will be charged at the conclusion of our service. $40 booking fees are non refundable. You will incur a fee of 20% of your total booking should you cancel within 48 hours from your booking.

We offer flexible payment plans for long term babysitting arrangements. Which include:

Superannuation and PAYG withholding tax has been calculated into your booking rates.

 

Q. What qualifications do your babysitters have?

A. Our babysitters have a variety of qualifications. This includes formal childcare or nanny qualifications, to life experience as mothers and experience caring for siblings/family. All babysitters must have a minimum of 3 years previous experience working with children.

 

They hold a current First Aid certificate and have undergone CPR training. All sitters have an approved current Criminal Conviction Report (CCR) and Working with Children Check (WWC).

Q. Can the babysitter transport my child to and from activities?  

A. Yes, we do offer chaperone services. If you require your child to be transported, you will need to consider the organisation of car seats (if required). Our babysitters hold a current NSW drivers licence and registered vehicle. Please discuss with your caregiver any travel arrangements prior to commencement of the service.
